NSYSA Small Sided Referees

Here's how to set yourself up as a small-sided referee once you have completed your class.

Note, small-sided referees are approved by NSYSA. Once SKSC has provided the training, final determination as to whether you are approved to be a small-sided referee lies with the NSYSA.

  1. Go to and select the Logon tab on the left of the page. Under the Logon tab select Register.
  1. The Site Name is your Logon name that will used when accessing the NSYSA web site.
  2. of Interest is SKSC.
  3. For "Role" select only Referee.
  1. While waiting for your NSYSA account go to the below link and complete the RMA.

(Directions for adults and Minors are listed on the right side of the page. Make sure you follow all the directions and review the Sudden Cardiac Arrest information as well as concussion information.)

After completing the RMA, you will need to look up and fill out a W-9 IRS form (readily available on the IRS website). Complete blocks 1, 5 and 6 as well as Part 1. It then needs to be printed and part 2 signed and held until your NSYSA account is set-up.

  1. Once you receive your account approval from NSYSA via e-mail, you will be able to logon to the NSYSA web site using your user name and password. Go to the "Member" tab on the left and select "paperwork". You will see a new tab labeled "upload". Here you will need to scan your signed W-9 into your computer and upload it to the web site. If you are unable to scan in your W-9 in contact the SKSC board and we can assist.
  1. You now have everything in the system and you just need to wait for NSYSA to process everything. You can monitor when you are approved by going to the "Referee" tab on the NSYSA web site and selecting "status". If Keys 1 and 3-6 are green you should be ready to begin refereeing.
  1. Once everything is approved, look under the "Referee" tab and select "Match Inquiry". If you have a purple "+" appears next to any matches, those are the ones you can sign up to referee. If no "+" symbol shows up, contact the VP of Comp for SKSC ( so he can find out why you are unable to request games.
  1. If you sign up for a game, remember that you MUST show up to referee the game, or contact the VP of Comp ( to try and cancel. If you don't show up for a game you signed up for, you could be fined.
  2. When you arrive to your game, the coaches should each provide you with a copy of their rosters. Remember to whistle loudly, and clearly point in the direction the ball is to be played after any stoppages in the game.
  1. After the game, and by the end of the weekend, you need to go back to the NSYSA site and under the "Referee" tab select "Match Report". Enter the score of the game, whether any cards were issued, and any comments you may have regarding coaches, parents or players.

If you encounter difficulty please contact the VP of Competition ( for assistance.
